Vehicular access to the site is proposed from the following three points:

  • Halse Road – via a fourth arm onto the existing Halse Road / Humphries Drive Roundabout;
  • Radstone Road (Southern) – via a new four arm roundabout; and
  • Radstone Road (Northern) – via a new four arm roundabout.

It is proposed that each of these access points will be linked by a new tree lined boulevard.

Highways

We aim to encourage people to use their cars less and public transport more. We also aim to make this development easy for people to walk and cycle around and will include improved links to the town centre. The development has accordingly been designed to make the recreational facilities, local centre, community facility and primary school easily accessible to cyclists and pedestrians.

A frequent and direct bus service, linking the development to both Brackley and Banbury town centres will be provided. Bus stops will be placed along the bus route so that all houses are within a five minute walk. Positive discussions have taken place with Northamptonshire County Council and the bus operator and it is envisaged that the existing number 500 service will be rerouted through the development.

A travel plan has been produced for the development, outlining the commitments we will make to promoting sustainable means of travel. Measures are likely to include a car share database, bus ‘taster’ tickets, bike vouchers, personalised travel planning and a travel plan forum. The location of the site allows linkages to Brackley town centre and other areas within Brackley to be enjoyed with ease, especially through pedestrian, cyclist and bus access.

Phasing and construction traffic
A Construction Traffic Management Plan is being prepared and will form part of additional information to be submitted to South Northamptonshire Council. The plan will outline how construction traffic will access the site during the development process.

The purpose of the plan is to ensure that the impact of construction traffic on the local highway network is minimised.
